| The garden surrounds the house, and is filled with a variety of trees, shrubs, roses and borders, in the English country style. |

A feature is the semicircular lawn bordered with 100 irises in a rainbow palette. A pergola laden with white roses leads you to the 9-metre swimming pool, which is normally warm enough for swimming from early November until the end of March. You can lie on the deck round the pool, or sit in the shade of the summerhouse. |
 |
Stroll around the winding borders, where cottage flowers, such as grannies' bonnets and forget-me-nots, jostle with roses, penstemons and tall sky-blue salvias. Climb the stile, or unlatch the wooden gate, to venture further into the 6 acre hobby farm. Walk up the small hill through a new avenue of trees to admire the 330 degree views of the Port Hills, 50km away to the south, right round to snow-covered Mount Hutt and nearby smaller mountains. A small flock of sheep might come to say 'Hi', or they might be resting up in the shade of an ancient pine tree.
You are free to enjoy the garden and pool whenever you wish. Children must be supervised in the pool, and paddock, however, for safety reasons.

Quilt, read, or just relax in the living room
