Julia Arden - host

Julia ArdenI moved to live in New Zealand from England 15 years ago, because I loved the untamed wildness of the countryside and the more laidback lifestyle of 'Kiwi' people.

I have never regretted the move, and still feel as enthusiastic about this wonderful country as I did when I first visited it in 1986.

Most of my time here has been spent farming sheep and cattle, which I still do in a smaller way. I also teach courses on farming skills, and options open to people moving from the city to the countryside to farm a few acres.

With advance notice, I can arrange visits to various farming ventures from the unusual, such as llamas, lavender or ostriches, to more mainstream sheep, cattle or goat farms.

I am passionate about patchwork, and have several of my own designs hanging on the walls. New Zealand quilters are just as mad as any other kind, and we love to share our hobby with others.

I have travelled widely, particularly in France and Italy, but also many other parts of Europe and some Asian countries, including Japan. I speak French and Italian, and enjoy preparing meals based around many different cuisine styles.

I have a stunning property and would love to welcome you to share it as part of your holiday here in New Zealand.

Enjoy a convivial dinner with Julia!
